Simon attended the opening show of the much anticipated exhibition of Wang Huaiqing in Taipei
Our founder Simon Chong loves to travel the world, seeking inspiration from art and culture. Recently, he attended the opening show of the much anticipated exhibition of Wang Huaiqing in Taipei - “The Art of Play: Wang Huaiqing Solo Exhibition” (running until May 18 at Tina Keng Gallery . Reflecting on the exhibition, Simon says. “Wang’s new works which I find particularly striking are two sculptures showing the structure of a door and a folding chair in a very minimal, modern interpretation. Another piece is an ink painting which reminds me of looking through an old window frame. There are some of his older works which I favour, which are oil paintings which evoke an excellent ambience and showcase the architecture of the interiors of old Chinese buildings. These remind me of the poetic compositions and works of art master Pierre Soulages.” To discover more about Wang Huaiqing and his body of work, Simon also recommends an exhibition at the Asia University Museum of Modern Art titled, “Wang Huaiqing: Fifty Years of Selected Works” (running until October 13).
