Simon Chong's unique vision reinterprets the role of purple in space, demonstrating how this color can infuse interior design with delicate emotion and timeless beauty.
In Simon Chong's design context, purple is a color that subtly elevates the quality of a space. When used appropriately, it quietly becomes a focal point, adding depth and rhythm to the overall design. Whether paired with orange, gold, or varying shades of yellow, purple creates a beautiful balance and contrast, adding personality to a space while retaining a sense of refinement and calm.
In the Zhongzhou Chengdu Central Park Plot B villa project, Simon's dining room features purple velvet dining chairs and vases, complemented by vibrant orange details from flowers and artwork, creating a romantic atmosphere reminiscent of sunlight bathing a French manor. The bedroom uses violet and beige as the primary colors, creating a calming and peaceful atmosphere. Beige-brown bedding and rugs add a warm, tactile feel. In the living room, a purple sofa nestles quietly beneath the low ceiling, inviting a natural relaxation and a sense of immersion.

Simon expertly interweaves purple with hues like gold, mustard, and cream, striking a delicate balance between cool and warm, creating a space with both visual focus and soft textures and layers. He shares, "Purple is a very measured color. It doesn't need to dominate the space, yet it can subtly change the mood of a space. When it interacts with other colors, it can guide the eye, adjust the rhythm, and even bring a sense of time to the space."
