An In-Depth Dialogue Between History, Culture, and Modern Luxury

In the ancient capital of a thousand years, our founder Simon Chong transforms historical memories into a quiet humanistic field through contemporary oriental brushstrokes

Reflecting on the planning for the Xi'an Weiyang Jinmao Mansion project, Simon Chong notes, "In the face of Xi'an, a famous historical city, it is best to avoid superficial design tropes. What we hope to do is distill the essence of its culture, turning the weight of a thousand-year history into light, shadow, and spatial rhythm, allowing contemporary life to engage in a natural dialogue."

During the planning process, the core philosophy of the team focused on achieving harmonious coexistence between traditional culture and contemporary residential aesthetics. As the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties, Xi'an's cultural heritage should not weigh down a space; instead, it is transformed into an introverted temperament that naturally permeates the building's proportions and material details.

Serving as the spatial prelude, the foyer establishes the "dialogue between ancient and modern" as its primary axis. The art installation "Dream as a Horse" captures the local imagery of the Terracotta Warriors, reconstructing it through clean metal lines. By discarding figurative imitation, the installation becomes a contemporary visual anchor, guiding viewers to feel the enduring tension of history.

Entering the bar and lounge areas, the interior shifts to a minimalist palette. A calm composition of black and ivory white, paired with D.HOUSE gallery-level furniture, establishes precise proportional harmony. The interplay of black paint, wood grain, and bronze under hazy lighting blurs the boundary between commercial space and private residence, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a contemporary art gallery.

As natural light filters through floor-to-ceiling windows and glass screens, outdoor scenery merges seamlessly with the interior. This de-commercialized approach shifts focus back to tactile material qualities, shifting light and shadows, and the authentic interaction between people and space.
