Disguised under cute shapes and forms, the artist buries his innermost thoughts about society and real life

Qu Guangci, the celebrated Chinese sculptor, artist and founder of the "Xiqi" brand, was born in Shanghai in 1969. He holds a master's degree from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and has adopted a unique practice of contemporary sculpture language expression techniques. Among his work, the “Fat Angels” series are perhaps most talked about: whereby, disguised under cute shapes and forms, the artist Qu buries his innermost thoughts about society and real life. He does not assume a lofty, proud posture, but instead, becomes a light, happy companion in many interior spaces. Simon Chong is deeply touched by the pure joy that emanates from these artworks and hopes to convey this beautiful energy to his customers through Qu’s works and let art heal life.
