Born Zhu Yuanzhi in Kaiping, Guangdong (1906–1963), Yun Gee’s journey took him from China to the cultural epicenters of the United States and Paris. It was in this international context that he developed his revolutionary "Diamondism" theory, which emphasizes the dynamic tension between colour, light, and structure. Exhibited at prestigious venues like the Museum of Modern Art in New York, his work remains a definitive representation of modernism that successfully bridges Eastern and Western philosophies.

For our director, Simon Chong, Yun Gee’s canvas is a profound method of “thinking about space.” The geometric lines and blocks of color serve as a potent reminder: design is far more than an arrangement of forms; it is a flow of emotion, thought, and lived experience.
